Green Impact Business of the Year

HERE ARE OUR SHORTLISTED NOMINEES

Power of Resilience

Green Impact Business of the Year

The Power of Resilience CIC runs the only non-contact community food recycling pantry in Greater Manchester which takes waste food from local community members and businesses and redistributes this to those facing adverse circumstances. Being a non-contact service, community pantry users can take items off the shelves and receive the help they need without proving their need for food.

As of 15th April 2024, we collaborated with Aldi, The Coalition of Kindness, The Bread and Butter Thing, Marks and Spencer, Pauline Town and We Shall Overcome, and Ridge Hill Local to save 723 pallets of food from landfill, which also includes food from local schools at the end of term-time and from fruit and vegetable stalls over holiday periods. (Please note this figure is continually increasing).

Furthermore, The Power of Resilience CIC has recycled and nurtured over 3,550 flowers and plants which Aldi and Marks and Spencer gave us. Many of these needed significant tender loving care from our capable volunteers to be nurtured back to health. Once rescued, they've been distributed in Stalybridge and Tameside to community groups and individuals including allotments, schools, community projects, wildflower gardens and tenant groups.

Green Impact Business of the Year

Being shortlisted for the 'Green Impact' award is not just a recognition of our efforts; it's a testament to our unwavering commitment towards sustainability. We're proud to be champions of environmental responsibility and thrilled to be considered for this award.

Tameside Community Computers

Green Impact Business of the Year

Tameside Community Computers CIC is run solely by volunteers and operates on a not-for-profit basis believing that everything that comes in goes out again, whether this is through refurbishing or recycling. All donations that come in that can be refurbished are donated back out again, and anything that isn’t suitable due to age and damage extent is responsibly recycled by breaking them down to their core components and sent away to their respective recycling hubs around the country. As well as being proud of our being able to help those in Digital Poverty, we are just as proud that we do everything we can to reduce E-Waste to a bare minimum.
